MISCHIEVOUS MICE
Typically, I watch the local and national news every night if I am home. This past week, all week long, both local and national were talking on and on about the storms bursting across the country. Pete and I pay attention to these reports as in the past hail storms happen and tornadoes have come very close.
So, on Saturday we started to prepare. Weathermen were forecasting high winds and flooding. We took down our flags. In case there was hail we squeezed Pete’s truck in the garage as best we could. (Usually, the truck doesn’t get garage parking, it sticks out by about a foot.) I went out to our bird feeders and brought them into our back porch thinking the high winds could bring them down. And then we waited.
The rain did come, but it wasn’t as bad as we were expecting. No hail. Winds were a little rough, but again, we’ve had worse. So, we went to bed knowing all was well.
Sunday morning, I got up and by Noon we had blue skies and the temps were a little above normal Spring time temps. Nice day. Went outside to replace the bird feeders, and to my surprise, some creatures had a party overnight!! I suspect it was either mice or chipmunks, of which we have both.
Mice/chipmunks never crossed my mind when I brought the feeders in. Evidentially they crossed Pete’s mind, but he never said a word. So, while I cleaned up the mess, Pete went to the hardware store a purchased a product I’ve never heard of. It seems mice in particular don’t like the smell of spearmint or peppermint. Did you know you can buy little bags of the scent, place them around to drive off the critters?
The evidence!!!
