Sisters

I spend a lot of time on my computer/phone.  Unlike many of my friends, I’ve gotten pretty good with my phone and use it extensively for my calendar, watch, communication, social media …. all that stuff.  I’m continually amazed by friends who still keep paper calendars for their appointments, who still use paper maps to find their way around, etc.  I really appreciate the efficiency and effectiveness of technology.  I may not be absolutely current on every aspect of what is available, but I think I do pretty good.

One aspect of technology that I really love is the amount of information I can get with little effort.  Like I spend some time each day looking through the ‘Reels’ on Facebook, just because there is so much stuff there that I wouldn’t see anywhere else.  And occasionally, something will really jump out at me that stops me in my tracks.  Like for instance, a phrase I recently read…. the definition of a good friend vs a best friend.

A good friend knows your stories; a best friend helped you write your stories.’

Yep, I know those people.

I have been so blessed to have those people in my life who definitely helped me write my stories.  I’ve written about two of them often in my Blogs.  Very sadly, they have both passed and I can’t say enough how much I miss them.

I am a firm believer in the idea that everything happens for a reason.  Like in the case of Nancy, either one of us could have been in a different homeroom in 8th grade and never met, but that isn’t what happened.  And, if I had not made the very impulsive decision to move to Alaska, I would never have met Karen.  Both of these women had huge impacts on my life; lessons learned, adventures, travels and so much more.

I could think, oh yea, that’s life, it just happens that way.  But I don’t, I think about how different my life would have been without them.

There are of course many, many people who have played big roles in my life, but these are the two who I think of as my sisters by other mothers.
