We Arrive!!

Friday was a much shorter day…thankfully!!! We were on the road by 9:15 AM and arrived in Rockland, ME by 4:30. Diane and Betts were already checked in and as we got in our condo, checking out the space, we saw them walking across the parking lot, gave them a big yell and they were on their way up…but I get ahead of myself.

The drive from Albany, NY, through Massachusetts was really beautiful…I never thought of MA as having the rolling hills and then mountains. Pete called and told us we were driving through the Berkshires…didn’t know that!! We made it through Springfield, Worchester and Lowell and then were in New Hampshire for a few miles and finally into Maine. I actually took pictures as soon as we crossed into Maine, but have now realized that I forgot to bring the cable that connects my camera to the computer, so will not be able to post any pictures on the blog during this trip…darn!!! Unless I can find a store where I can buy another cable!!

We stayed on the Interstate/Toll road through Portland, and then headed toward the coast on US Highway 1. Saw bits and pieces of the Maine coast as we drove along, but it was much slower going of course then on the interstate. I kept asking Karen how much further, how much further? I was really ready to be here.

We drug our baggage up to the condo, did not unpack, visited with Diane and Betts for a while and then started walking around the corner toward the restaurant…got sidetracked to a local’s bar, had a drink and then made it to the restaurant. Food was yummy, sort of had a French theme to it. Two glasses of wine loosened me up so I will no doubt get a good night’s sleep.

Diane and Betts told us they would be with us through Sunday morning. Yeah…first hand tour from Maine pros…what more can you ask for? Have no idea what we will be doing tomorrow, but it will be fun, no matter what!!
