2009 Holidays

2010 has arrived!! Quietly at our house. Pete is not one for staying up late, but I managed to keep him awake and participating in watching the ball drop on Times Square and sipping our own bubbly. So we are ready for 2010 and looking forward to another fabulous year.

Christmas Eve was very special this year. Katie and John are expecting their first child in April and they had their ultrasound Christmas Eve day letting them know if we are having a granddaughter or grandson. With 2 grandsons already present, I had my fingers crossed for a granddaughter. They had both sets of grandparents over for dinner that night. For dessert they served a cake with white frosting and blue/pink sprinkles. Katie let us know that when she cut the cake, the color would tells us the news. She cut the cake and we could see pink crumbs immediately come out with the knife. Everyone is thrilled. She is due April 22.

Josh and Becca and their two sons are still doing well. Alex and Eli are on the go all the time and keep them busy. Alex is now attending pre-K for a few hours each morning and brings home all the bugs, so they are often battling colds, etc.

The whole gang was over Christmas late morning for our annual family brunch. With everyone married we try to make this as simple as possible so that John & Kate can head to northern Ohio for his family gathering and Josh and Becca head to her famliy gathering in the early afternoon.

I had 12 days off from work over the holidays. I told Pete in the middle of the time that I thought I was being overtaken by Mom's spirit. One day I got it in my head to wash the walls in our bedroom...definitely a Dorothy Hallsted kind of project. Also managed to do a lot of research on the Poff genealogy...something prompted by all the Hallsted information that my Hallsted cousin, Glenn Brown has been generating. Saw 2 movies and got some shopping done, so it was a good, productive 12 days off.

I'm ready to head south again. Maybe sometime in February. It has been cold, cold, cold...not much snow, but really cold with no sun, and I need the sun!!

Hope 2010 will be wonderful for everyone.
